So today is the big day! The born of Virtual Assistant Denise Mobile!

Today is a great day for us at NextOS and I believe for you guys also, our friends, customers and supporters that are following our work and giving us the enthusiasm and encouraging to build nice and innovative things.

We went much further that we first expected, being able to built Denise Mobile for Android, IOS and Windows Phone 8 at the same time, almost using the same programming code.

All the Alpha volunteers should have received the invitation by now, and if not, there still time to request your invitation to test Denise Mobile.

We will upload the first build today, anytime. All volunteers will receive another e-mail from TestFlight announcing that the build is available to install in your devices.

So, before you start testing Denise, here are some important notes that you should be aware off:

Virtual Assistant Denise Mobile – Alpha Version

- This is a Alpha version, so bugs will exist. We appreciate that you post here exactly what you think cause the bug or make the application to crash.

- This Alpha version will drain your device battery fast because there are many activities running in the back to get and send logs and monitoring overall system performance.

- This Alpha version have only the core features of the final version, what means its purpose is to test the "kernel" of the application, that is the engine that will make all current and future features to run smoothly. Don't expect this version as final as well as please don´t try to compare this Alpha version with any other Mobile Assistants available in the market.

- The main objective of this Alpha Testing Phase is to test the Speech Recognition, the overall chat abilities, the Text to Speech, basic Searches capabilities, 2D and 3D Avatar performance and some basic "SIRI" like features.

- Denise Mobile uses a "Hybrid" AI system. This means that part of artificial intelligence is embedded into the device, and other part is in the Server. The big advantage of this system is being able to chat with the Assistant even without Internet Access. With Android devices, its even possible to use Speech Recognition with no Internet access, by just installing in your device the "Off line Google Speech Recognition System" that you access from within your device Speech Setup. This is not available for IOS yet.

- The 3D Avatar real-time engine was built from our company. This is an early version with a low resolution Avatar, but because this is our NextOS technology, we will continuous improving it. The big advantage of a 3D Avatar comparing to a 2D engine is to be able easily give all kind of animations, face and body emotions and give user's all kind of accessories to the Avatar, like changing clothing, hair and eyes color, body and face properties and much more. Beta version will already have an Avatar Editor, like the one in the "The Sims Game". This is not available yet in this Alpha version.

- Denise Mobile uses an update AI systems, that was build from an updated AIML interpreter (already using some of the AIML 2.0 new capabilities) and some new AI layers engines built from our company. Beta version should have one more AI layer, that will be able to try to get the "context" of the conversation. This is something that we have been working for the past 4 years and we hope to great improve Denise's AI capabilities.

Some features you will find in the Alpha Version:

- Android, IOS and Windows Phone 8 version;

- Speech Recognition in both a "Push to Talk" and "Continuous Listening" modes;

- Two types of Avatars: a 3D and a 2D model;

- Several backgrounds;

- Overall chat capabilities. Just talk to Denise about anything!

- Set any answer as wrong or not appropriate. If you don't like Denise's answer, use the lateral right menu to mark the question as wrong or not appropriate. This will send the logs to correct the answer

- Off-line "basic chat" capability;

- "Suggestion Dialog". Use the left menu to open a dialog where you can write your suggestions so we can improve Denise.

- "Learning Mode". Its possible to input your custom Questions and Answers, just like Denise desktop. The new custom data is immediately available without the need to "reboot" the application;

- Use basic search queries like "What is", "Who is", "Where is", Who is"

- Some "SIRI like"device related features:

  -> Weather

  -> Check Battery

  -> Send e-mail

  -> Send SMS

  -> Post a tweet (Speak "Tweet something" or "Twitter something")

- There is still no Calendar, Contact or Phone Call features.

I think this is all for now. We hope you have fun Alpha testing Denise Mobile! Thank you again for your interest. A lot of great other really nice features are on the way!

So, here we go! Some good news…

First of all, thanks for all friends and volunteers that helped us alpha testing our Mobile Denise. Although 1.0 version will be totally different from the Alpha, the core engine, the AI and 2D and 3D graphic engine will be the same, so the Alpha testing was very important for my team to fine tune those features.

NextOS is going just fine. Some new small but important financial support from my investors that granted the health of the company.

So here are some overall updates. More specific details about each one will following the upcoming days.

- We hope to release Android and IOS 1.0 version of Mobile Denise this month. Windows Phone 8.1 will follow as soon as Microsoft officially releases it for users. We are very impressed with this latest Windows Phone version. A lot of progress in the Speech Recognition.

- We had resumed the development of Denise 2.0 three weeks ago. Some improvements includes the 64 bits version, Nuance Dragon 12.5, a total new 3D Avatar engine tun run real time 3D models. Many more new features that I will publish here soon.

- We have finish version 1.0 of the Home Automation module. We are performing internal testing and adding some new protocols that will add to current Z-Wave support.

Some screen shots of all above are on the way!

Updates on the Mobile Version:

Some updates on the Mobile Denise from the Alpha version:

- We lower the device (phone or tablet) CPU consume from 30% to less than 5%, what makes the device to not get too warm.

- Battery consuming was very high. Testing here in our Google Nexus 7 tablet, Alpha version with Denise open all the time was draining the battery in less than 2 hours. Now the same test drained the battery in up to 10 hours of continuous use of Denise.

- Log in time was to long in Alpha. Now application opens in less than 4 seconds, even with the loading of 15.000 AIML categories into the device memory.

Kernel is very stable, and we are very excited to be able to release version 1.0 very shortly.

Updates on the Desktop Version:

- We have the whole system recompiled with latest programing tools. Delphi XE7 and Visual Studio 2013

- System now in 64 bits

- A new updated face for Denise

- Updated 2D Graphic Engine

- Dragon 12.5

- A few hundreds bugs fixed!

- Working in the update for AIML 2.0

- Hopefully get the AI Second Layer ready (still not sure if we will make it for the first 2.0 release..)

- Working in the integration with the Home Automation Module

- Working in the integration with the Mobile Version.

- New Interface for the whole system

- other nice features that we will decide if will be present in first release of 2.0 version

As promised, we did a modification in our Chess engine to post and watch the Clipboard for moves.

NextOS_Chess_with_Denise.png

Get the executable from the link bellow, both 32 and 64 bits versions:

NextOS Playing Chess with Denise

The engine keeps monitoring the Clipboard for moves information in the format:

PLAYER:E2-E4

Then, when computer makes a move, Clipboard receives the move in the format below:

DENISE:E2-E4

So now you can use any external application to make a move as well as send the computer info to Denise to make her speak aloud.

Also, you can make a Computer x Computer game to learn, and control the level of difficulty using the AI Level list box.

So, the great day is coming!

"Denise Desktop"

Before releasing Denise 2.0, we will release a 1.9 version release hopefully in the next few days.

This final release before the 2.0 will be for all customers to help us to get the main 2.0 kernel stable, since 2.0 will use this 1.9 core engine. It will have no visuals or new features yet but the adding of a the new and much improved Speech Recognition engine with Nuance Dragon 12.5 Pro engine.

Also, this release has almost one year of fixes in the several existing modules within Denise 1.0.

1.9 version will also be available in the 64 bit version. This temporary version will also offer greater compatibility running in MAC computers with Parallels Desktop 10 for Mac.

Our goal is to release the 2.0 version with the new interface, a totally rebuilt new look for Denise avatar and all other features and improvements after having the 1.9 version running for a while.

"Denise Mobile"

Denise Mobile is on its final development and testing stage. Although it will be almost completely different from our Alpha testing version, the main code kernel will be almost the same, so thanks for all users that helped us.

Denise Mobile, both Android and IOS, will be a free app. Windows Phone 8.1 will be released a little after, also for free.

The good news it will have the "original" Denise avatar as well as our new 2015 avatar, the same one we will use for Denise Desktop 2.0, so I believe users will like to have the same visuals for both Mobile and Desktop versions.

By the way, both versions (Denise Mobile and Denise 2.0) will also share almost the same interface design to also keep the similarity.

"Denise Home Automation Module"

Instead of having this as a separated system as we would had imagined before, this new Module will be integrated to Denise 2.0.

Here we go!

We finished today the update module for version 1.9. We will spend the next few days installing this version in several computers here at NextOS to be sure we have a stable version.

Both Android and IOS Mobile version are pretty stable and running smoothly! I'm personal very happy with what we could achieve so far, and I really hope you guys enjoy Denise in your smart phones very soon, hopefully before Christmas.

It took a great part of my personal life this year, so its really a great dream coming true.

Today we finish 95% of all testing with version 1.9. The last 5% is related to small bugs we have found while testing the update and install system. We really hope to be able to release 1.9 until Friday this week.
My team is shared between the release of the 1.9 Desktop version and the release of the Android Mobile version, all hopefully for the end of this week!

IOS Mobile version will be send for Apple Store approval also this week.

We want to be comfortable releasing 1.9 this week because I will give my guys a week off next week. (Although Support will not stop working, thanks to my teammates Natasha and Marcus! Sometimes I think they are not from this planet due to their incredible dedication to Denise and NextOS !!)

I have been pushing my team and myself to the limit these past months, so I can say we are "kind" of needing a small rest Cool

But at the same time we are very excited here with the coming new things !!

Finally, I would like very much to thank all of you guys here for the never ending support and understanding the delays.
